Congratulations to both of you Parkfairfax Condo and Fairlington residents who bought your home outside the Shirlington area this week. Although you aren't as close to I-395/Quaker Lane & the Pentago as your were, Northern Virginia (Springfield) and (Alexandria-Fairfax County) are close enough for you and your additional family members. The JOHNandJOHN Team was happy to work on Christmas Eve to make that happen for you. You got the best 30 year fixed rate of buyers we've seen since we began selling Real Estate, yes since dinosaurs roamed.

We saw 4 movies last week. "Milk", "The Day the Earth Stood Still", "Valyrus", "Curious Case of Benjamin Button". "Milk" probably has one of the 2008 Academy Award Winners, Sean Penn. Cate Blachette may win for "Button".Hope you'll enjoy this evening and the best to you in 2009.

We're enjoying collards, black eyed peas and pork tonight. Yes, we believe in Good Luck!

John W is back from visiting family. The difference in temp is 70 degrees in ATL and 44 degrees in Alexandria, according to John's Jaguar, I mean Tata. It's so that the name of the company that bought Jaguar and Land Rover is Tata?

Just heard from one of our clients' most recommended Realtors that 4.5% is available (fluctuates by the hour) for 30 year fixed mortgages (no points)!!!

We've had our offices repainted. Can you imagine the mess? One computer and 1 phone had to be connected during the entire 3 day process. NEVER have all of us been out of the office for that period of time. We all worked from home as some of you know. Now, all is well! And the office looks fantastic.

John Welch has been visiting his parents and brother (and family) and will be back 12/18/08. Congrats to you who have called us about this low mortgage time. We've been advising clients for years to purchase during Thanksgiving and New Year's Day----the best time to buy bargains. And congrats to those of you who have taken advantage of this time. You'll reap great $$$ benefits in the future.

However, many new listings are coming up after Jan. 1. Watch http://www.parkfairfax.com/ and http://www.johnandjohn.net/

Tonight is the RE/MAX Allegiance Christmas party. There should be about 100 people. A Realtor in Fairfax is lending her HUGE house, and the attendees are bringing the food! We're cooking a 30 lb. turkey. It's been thawing for 3 days so it's ready to pop in the oven. The house should smell fantastic. I want to watch the Florida VS Alabama football game this afternoon. And I need a silver or gold ink pen to write some Christmas cards, didn't think about that when I bought them. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. It's so crisp and cold, it feels like Christmas!

The Treasury Department is strongly considering a plan to intervene directly in the mortgage industry to dramatically force down rates and stimulate the moribund housing market, according to sources familiar with the proposal.
Under the initiative, the Treasury would offer to buy securities that finance newly issued loans for home purchases, according to the sources. But to participate in the government's program, mortgage lenders would have to set exceptionally low interest rates, for instance, no more than 4.5 percent for traditional, 30-year fixed-rate loans.
